Introducción

IPC (Internal Proccess Comunication) proceso interno de comunicación Oracle, tal  como los procesos IPC de Unix, Oracle crea este propio servicio para la intercomunicación de procesos Oracle como DBWR y LGWR, este proceso IPC hace uso de los segmentos de memoria compartida del servidor.

Como ejemplo, cada vez que nos conectamos a través de sqlplus scott/tiger@SID estamos haciendo uso de este proceso IPC y no TCP/IP.

1.      Make sure your parfile has the line COMMIT=N 

Otherwise, Oracle will perform a commit after each row is inserted, and that may be the cause of your problems. 

2. Enlarge the size of your redo till you are only performing 1 log switch every 10-20 minutes. 

3. 'RDBMS IPC REPLY' is shared memory segments passing messages (usually flags) back and forth. This is nothing to get worried about, and most people consider it to be an idle wait event.

4. Run a statspak report for 15 minutes during the import, and that will show where your problems really are, like hot blocks etc.
